RUGBY LEAGUE (Brisbane): This weeks edition of League and More reviewed the Brisbane Tigers Intrust Super Cup bout against the Tweed Heads Seagulls. The Tigers went down convincingly 54-12 as the team headed down to Tweed Heads to take on the might of the Seagulls last Sunday.

Having led 6-0 at the 20 minute mark the Tigers were unable to hold the Tweed Heads rampant attack out with the Seagulls piling on four tries in twenty minutes prior to half time to take a 24-6 lead at the main break. Brisbane Tigers head coach Jon Buchanan recapped the game on this weeks League and More episode and spoke of how impressive the Tweed Heads outfit was with their 6 wins for the year reflecting that. “They’re a really good footy team” Buchanan said.

“They’ve only lost one game this year, there’s a reason for that and we found out on the weekend why” Buchanan admitted despite the attacking masterclass that Tweed Heads displayed that it was the effort of their forwards that laid the platform for the win.

“I thought they handled our forwards very well… It’s probably the first time someone’s held our forwards accountable for the day” Despite the positive signs of the Tigers leading at the twenty-minute mark the scoreline will no doubt read badly for the Tigers in this weeks review.

The sin binning of Mitch Frei opening up the floodgates for the Seagulls as the man advantage led to the barrage of tries before half time. Buchanan was brutal in his assessment of his sides defensive efforts “We didn’t defend well enough as individuals or collectively… we got exposed in a number of areas, it’s just not good enough” Buchanan said.

The Tigers will re-group this weekend with no match on the cards due to the Intrust Super Cups split weekend round before heading to Cairns to take on the Northern Pride next weekend.
